LOAN OFFICER

The Loan Officer is an integral member of the Equity Concepts team and is the client’s primary contact with our company. We strive to listen to our clients, consult them on their situation, and offer them the best mortgage solution.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contacts clients who have requested information for refinancing, debt consolidation loans or purchase mortgages through the internet, direct marketing leads, Realtor referrals, or past client referrals
  • Takes a telephone application from the client
  • Qualifies them from our 1st & 2nd mortgage products (conforming, non ­conforming, High LTV)
  • Consults the client and offers loan analysis using our pre-formatted loan analysis software
  • Sells the client a mortgage solution and obtains basic income and asset documents
  • Once this information is gathered, the file is handed to our processing department which obtains verifications, appraisal, and title, clears lender and title stipulations, obtains all other information from the borrower, and takes the loan to closing. During the processing stage, the loan officer keeps routine contact with the client.
  • The loan officer handles only "sales" questions during loan processing stage or reworks a new loan program if the loan is turned down; appraised value is lower than expected, etc.
  • The loan officer helps coordinate closing and reviews the final closing statement with the client
  • The loan officer asks for referrals. The goal of the loan officer is to qualify candidates properly, sell effectively, and give the processing department a good file to close. The loan officer should be geared towards high sales productivity and concentrate on sales at least 60% of the day.

Employment Qualifications:
  • Great selling ability
  • 1+ years of mortgage selling experience
  • Knowledge of refinance and purchase transactions
  • Knowledge of conforming FNMA lending and Desktop Originator as well as other automated underwriting software
  • Knowledge of non-conforming lending (sub-prime & high LTV)
  • College graduate preferred
  • Proficiency in loan originating software and basic computer programs (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Internet proficiency
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A self motivated individual
  • The ability to work in a team setting
  • A creative and problem solving spirit
